Trailers brought to Germany from the UK
Did you know for instance that within Germany you need a separate insurance as well as an individual registration for your trailer? Within the UK your trailer is automatically registered and insured with your vehicle.
So, please take note if you have brought in or, are intending to bring in a trailer from the UK, get yourself insured and registered accordingly.
We had a client not so long ago whose trailer was in fact confiscated by the police as he did not take this point into consideration.

Write off vehicles
On own damage claims – if your vehicle is a write off, you need to make sure that you de-register your vehicle right away.
It is imperative that you do this immediately as you will only then be able to sell the vehicle as scrap.
If this is not done you may be held liable to pay high storage costs.

Left turning accidents – be aware that …
… when you are in the process of making a left turn, it is your duty to ensure that there is no other vehicle overtaking you (on your left).
This may sound silly as one would assume if one is turning left, has the indicator showing that a left turn is about to be made – what more should one do?
Well, according to road traffic law, when making a left turn – and take note that this also applies in “no overtaking zones” – the left turner has to ensure that no traffic from behind is overtaking. To ensure this you must check your rear view mirror, look over your shoulder and check the rear view mirror again ensuring that all is clear before turning, which is by law the correct way of proceeding.
If one is involved in this sort of accident where an overtaking vehicle collides with a left turning vehicle, the left turning party will be held responsible for at least 50% of the accident.
Crazy – but true, so be very careful when proceeding to make a left turn.
